All you really need is some different colored construction paper, some white glue, and crayons or markers. Cut a circle out of brown construction paper for the turkey’s body. The head and neck is just a circle on top of a rectangle. Cut this out of either orange or a lighter brown construction paper. Make some legs and feet from yellow construction paper. The turkey feathers are just elongated ovals. Have your child draw a face on his or her turkey and then write things that they are thankful for on each of the turkey feathers. Glue it all together and then hang in the house!
To get the rest of the family and your Thanksgiving guests into the thankful spirit, make a cute centerpiece for the dinner table. You need a bowl or basket and a piece of florist’s foam. Cut out leaf shapes from construction paper and staple or glue them to craft sticks. As guests arrive, have them write something they are thankful for on the leaf and stick it into the foam. Place in the middle of the table and have each guest pick one to read while dinner is being eaten.
